Today on 10-10-10 we celebrated Aaron's 27th birthday with Twix cupcakes and rich chocolate cake topped with a gooey chocolate glaze icing. I've been waiting on this day for almost his entire 27 years. Knowing that this birthday would come where the calendar would read 10-10-10. It was a quiet day of sleeping in, baking delicious confections and watching football. Last night we ventured out to Springfield's Hu Hot Restaurant for a favorite meal of Mongolian BBQ.
Birthday's have changed a lot over the years. Long gone are the family birthday parties with all the cousins.....
the bobbing for apples, the pinatas, the superman and teenage mutant ninja turtles themed birthday cakes and big wheel toys that required a whole garage full of relatives to put together. Birthday's now are very quiet and mostly uneventful. We sit around and do some reminiscing of the ones from the past and talk about "how did I get this old, this fast!".
I did insist on taking pictures today......
and documenting life with the dogs.....Sierra watching squirrels out the front window.....
and Riley getting cozy and snuggling in Aaron's lap......
and admiring the front lawn and all the hard work that goes in to keeping it looking its best....
Watching Aaron surveying his yard today reminded me of when he was a boy and first started mowing the yard. Pappaw had come into town for a visit and did what pappaw's do best.... making sure their grandsons are safe......On this day, Pappaw walked behind Aaron probably watching how close his feet got to the mower and looking ahead for sticks and rocks, making sure no harm would come to his Aaron boy....
Life is good, memories are sweet and we look forward to making many more in the coming years.
Happy Birthday Aaron, I'm so proud of you and Stephanie! Love MOM
