PierMagic Poly Jacking

Last fall I called PierMagic to do some polyjacking of my sidewalk.  A section had dropped causing a trip hazard.  After researching mudjacking vs polyjacking I decided that polyjacking was the way to go.  Mudjacking requires heavy equipment, large drill holes and often is only a temporary solution.
The polyjacking is done with smaller equipment and smaller drill holes and little mess to my yard.

When they first arrived at my house, they had to set up their machine by connecting it to a power source.  The chemicals were added to the machine and it all had to warm up.  Polyjacking is a combination of two chemicals ran through two hoses.  When the chemicals are injected into the ground, they turn into a foam that fills the void underneath the concrete.  The technician drilled 3/8" holes into the section of sidewalk that had dropped.....

After the machine was warmed up and ready to go, they injected the polyjacking foam a little at a time.  I watched as they would stop and wait after each injection to see if the slab was raising.

I could visually watch the section of sidewalk lifting and becoming even with the driveway.

Below you can see where the two pieces of concrete are now even....

After the job was completed, PierMagic cleaned the area for me.  A little foam remained in the joints but after a few weeks it became less noticeable.  The 3/8" holes were plugged and filled in with a concrete caulk.

It must have been my lucky day.  A PierMagic owner and sales guy showed up to see how things were going!

Overall I was very pleased with the work and would highly recommend PierMagic.  They also do foundation repair and new sump pump installation.  A couple of years ago I had them install a new sump pump with battery back up for me.

Yard Is Blooming

Today is a beautiful day with no strong winds and no chill in the air.  A perfect day to go out, walk around the yard and admire all the blooming that is currently going on.  This striped hosta is growing fast and this ground cover below is really spreading fast this spring.....
Hopefully these gladiolas will have lots of flowers on them this summer.  The last couple of years have been very sparse.....
These tulips are in year 3.  I need to dig up the bulbs this summer and replant new ones in the fall.....
Inside a bright yellow a tulip.....
This is the largest hosta in my yard and this year it will not disappoint.  I've seen it poke up from the mulch and grow this much in just two days.....
My lilies multiply every year and by the way my flower bed is popping up with them, I should have a full bed of lilies this season.......
My dark purple clematis is growing rapidly.  Soon this entire wrought iron will be covered in vines!
Hens and chicks in my rock wall are pointing toward the sun!
My rock wall is home to many rabbits, big and small.  Riley likes to try and find them....

So looking forward to hot summer days and lots of flowers in the yard!

Spring Has Sprung

Spring has finally sprung at my house.  The Bradford Pear trees are in full bloom and the tulips started opening up this morning.....
Dad came over early today and helped me do lots of spring cleaning chores and yard work.  We planted annuals in some of the flower pots.....
Dad put some edging down to hold the mulch in the flower bed.  In the past, the mulch would float down the driveway in heavy rains, so this was a much needed improvement.....
It took ten bags of mulch to get everything covered like I wanted.  The last couple of years I used black mulch, this year I changed it up and went with the red.
I love how new, fresh mulch looks surrounding the greenery.  These Stella day lilies will be full grown real soon!
We also put down some grass seed, sprayed some weeds, painted a shelf to hang in the garage and cleaned the garage out by de-cobwebbing, power washing the floor, disposing of all the junk that collects during the winter and scrubbing the steps and threshold into the laundry room.
Next weekend:
1.  Ortho Home Defense Max around the perimeter of the house, the garage and basement!
2.  Finish buying and planting annual flowers in the outdoor pots.
3.  Power wash the siding.
4.  Clean the glass.

Dogs, Flowers and Fires

Sierra is a princess and she knows it!  I spent part of the weekend with Aaron and Stephanie and enjoyed using my new camera.  There was lots of practicing taking photos of the dogs.  They were not as thrilled as I was but they tolerated it okay!
Riley is in desperate need of a decent haircut.  He's sporting the shaggy look right now....
I sat out on the front porch with the pooches while Aaron and Stephanie did some yard work.  The dogs had to stay on their leashes so they would not take off after squirrels or other dogs.  Sunday was a lovely day (except for the wind) and lots of people were outside enjoying the sunshine.
Stephanie has been growing some flowers from seeds.....
She also got some gerber daisies from Lowes that morning that she needed to transplant into her clay pots...

She picked out some really pretty colors!
and did a little dog teasing with some dirt clad fingers.....
Aaron's hard work on his yard is really paying off.  His lawn is beautiful, especially right after a mowing !  A few dandilions had to be plucked out of the yard.....
Finishing up the front yard work.....
Stephanie's marigolds to keep the ants away!
Sierra in the backyard after Aaron finished mowing.  She hates the lawnmower and hides in her bed until she hears it shut off!

Riley on the other hand could care less about the lawnmower.  He'll stay out in the yard and watch it.

That night we sat around Aaron's firepit, watched him add twigs and logs and caught up on life!
The weather was a little chilly and just right for huddling in blankets around a hot fire!
Riley kept his head under the blanket most of the time, he does not look too pleased that I uncovered him to take his picture!

Pathway Through A Snow Drift

Pathway through a snow drift today.  Yeah, now we can walk out the front door.  The lawn care guy came and shoveled me a path and cleaned off the driveway.  Unfortunately, the city still has not cleaned the street, so my cul-de-sac is still impossible for me to get out of with my car!
Riley loves the snow and is not afraid to climb to where ever he wants to be....
I should have put his doggie coat on him so he would show up better in the pictures!  I'll be glad when all this melts.....
Riley holds on to his leash waiting for his next chance to go outside in the snow....
