Christmas 2010 Part One

Christmas 2010, Part One.  Sunday night, my parents, Katie and my sister and her family came over for our annual Christmas celebration.  Aaron and Stephanie were not able to make the three hour drive.  The timing and the weather worked against them this year.  We had a small feast of brisket, ham, green bean wraps, mashed potatoes, salad and Sister Schubert rolls.  Mom made two coconut cream pies and I made melted snowman cookies and sister-in-law Judy's chocolate pie!  In the picture above, Hannah posed for a picture with her grandma.
My dad has been collecting coins since he was fifteen years old.  He never passes up a penny on the ground.  He says you never know what that penny might be worth.  He picks up free coins everyday!  He spent last week sorting and arranging his coins.  I heard several stories as he would reminiscence over his favorites.  He purchased a new coin value book last week too and below he is sharing some of his finds with brother-in-law Mike.....
Hannah got caught spying the melted snowmen cookies.........
After dinner we all gathered in the living room to give the youngest and the oldest of the group their Christmas gifts.  Katie with grandma and grandpa.....
Hannah and Dylan taking their turn in front of the camera....
Mom loves to read her novels so we got her a gift card to Borders bookstore
She was quite happy.....
and we surprised dad with some items to collect his coins in.......
and we shared some funny stories......
Last year we took pictures of all the grand kids in front of the tree.  This year we took pictures of me and my sister in front of the tree.  We are always the ones taking the pictures so it was nice to get a couple of pictures of just the two of us.

And then Katie got out her I-phone and showed grandma and grandpa the fat booth app she had downloaded.  We enjoyed taking head shots of everyone and expanding their cheeks and chins......
Grandpa cracked up every time he saw one of us or him or Grandma blown out of proportion.  It looks like Grandma was beginning to wonder if he would ever calm down!
He did some hootin' and howlerin' !  It was fun to see both of them let loose and giggle for almost 30 minutes straight!
Part Two of Christmas 2010 starts next week!
