Letting Go (Dylan Part 4)

Well....the party was fun.  The food was good, we ate too much!  The family time spent together was fun.  We laughed, acted silly and made memories to remember forever.  But it was also a sad ocassion.  To see Dylan all grown up and taking off for this new chapter in his life.  We had to take many pictures.  We had to capture this day so we could look back on it later and remember the fun we had......

We had to acknowledge that Dylan's mom and dad are letting go.  They taught him all of life's lessons and now he's going off on his own.  Off to Chicago to start boot camp and then two years of schooling followed by four years of enlistment in the Navy.  He will do a lot of growing and maturing that we won't get to witness.  Some times will be sad for all of us and for him too.....
We let go.  Dylan released the balloons and we watched them travel far away.......
Sailor hat, corn cob pipe, Dylan's empty bottle of grape Crush........
Four days later Dylan had his swearing in with the Navy.......

  1. I came across your blog through the Blogger's Quilt Festival and wanted to take a moment to thank you, your son and your family. As a wife of a Marine it touches my heart deeply to see a family stand behind their child in the choice to serve their country. Thank you thank you thank and may God Bless him and keep him safe!
