Thread storage. It's always a dilemma for me. I don't like the traditional rack with the spool sticks on it. I want to be different. A few weeks ago I found this little treasure at a garage sale and snatched it up for three dollars. It did have a dark wood stain till I got a hold of it. This was my first time at spray painting wood. Next time I will know to use a primer first. I must have applied 20 coats and it seemed like most of them kept soaking into the wood. I finally gave up with the hopes that once I got some thread stacked in it, the flaws would not be as noticeable.......
I'm loving it! I chose a cream color instead of a bright white and I like the way it looks against my blue craft room wall.......
I'm slowly getting my craft room put together. Some day I'll have a long blog post on this room hiding in my basement.
Very clever! And pretty to boot!

Love it! I built a thread and bobbin storage rack a couple of weeks ago. It would never have occurred to me to repurpose a shadow box, but yours is so perfect! Here's the link to mine: http://www.sewingoverpins.com/2012/06/tutorial-diy-thread-spool-bobbin.html
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for linking to the party! I think the paint job looks great and the bright colored spools of thread really pop on it!
