Chicago Trip Whitehall Hotel

Last week Frances and I took a trip to Chicago and we had such a nice time and enjoyed everything we did. We only wished we would have had more time to see all the sights. Above is the starting picture for our trip....waiting on the plane for takeoff!

We stayed at the Whitehall Hotel. Aaron and Stephanie stayed at this same hotel when they visited Chicago during the summer. They both loved it so we thought we would give a try too...and the feeling was unanimous. The Whitehall is a boutique hotel that was originally one of Chicago's first luxury high rise apartment buildings. Click here to read about the history of this hotel.
I should have got a picture of the elevators, they were approximately 4 X 4 feet, if that big! Here is the hallway leading to our room. At the end of this hallway, there is a short hallway on the right, our room was at the end of that.

We had two walls with windows which was really nice. We decided to get a room with a king bed because it was $30 less a night compared to getting a room with two double beds. Since we are aunt and niece, we figured we could handle it ! ! !

The hotel still has a lot of the original mahogany furniture. The "boutique hotel" is known for it's high thread count linens, towels and plush bathrobes for their guest! There was a warm down comforter on the bed that was so nice.

Here's another view showing two chairs and the desk. There were three phones in this room. One in the bathroom, one on the desk and one on the nightstand!

The bathroom was very spacious and had marble floors, granite counter tops and beautiful tile work. I took advantage of this bathtub every evening after coming in from being out in the city all day...

After having an expensive breakfast in the hotel's restaurant the first morning, we decided to go to one of the corner markets and pick up a few things to have breakfast in our room for the next two mornings.

And after our first day of doing lots of walking, we also had to stop in at one of the many Walgreens and pick up some foot soak, heated knee wraps, magazines and of course some chocolate.....

On the second night we took advantage of room service and ordered a thin crust vegetable pizza. We wanted to get some real Chicago style pizza but the wait times were too long.

Here's part of the lobby of the hotel...

And this was our first morning where we had breakfast in the hotel restaurant. It was very fancy, that's why I am sitting up so straight, ha!

And lastly, here's a picture of the breakfast I ordered, fancy french toast with pears and cream, fresh squeezed orange juice and little balls of butter!

Check back tomorrow for another Chicago trip post !
