Welcome Macyn Jewel
Macyn Jewel has made her arrival. Katie's best friend since elementary school, Katie G., went into labor on the evening of February 17th and gave birth in the early morning hours at 4:04 on February 18th. She is a precious little jewel weighing in at 6 lbs, 10 oz and 19" long. Katie was at work when she got the text message from Katie G. Katie was at work doing her job as a registered nurse of delivering babies but she really wanted to be 15 minutes down the highway at the hospital where Katie G. was admitted to. She wanted to make sure her friend was receiving the best care possible and that her every need was being met. At 2 am that morning, her charge nurse told her she could leave, she could finally run to her friend and a waiting room full of anxious family members.
Katie stayed at the hospital for a little bit after Macyn was born, went home to sleep for 10 hours, woke up, showered and went right back to the hospital to hold baby Macyn again, but this time, I got to go with her.
I asked Katie G. if I could take pictures and she said, in her true Kaitlin form "sure.....you can take pictures of anything in this room.......except me!" We thought she looked like a beautiful, glowing new mama but she wanted to wait before getting her picture taken! So here's her room decorations and here's Macyn at fourteen hours old....
(Note....since this is my blog and I can brag about anything I want to.......this beautiful little girl, Macyn.....her first real outfit to wear.........was this valentine onesie I made her.....just saying!) And also, just saying, Katie is glowing over this new baby almost as much as her friend, new mama, Katie G. is.
One month to the day of Heaven receiving Grandma S, Macyn Jewel decided to start her journey into this world. The bittersweetness of it makes us cry tears of joy for new beginnings and tears of sorrow for our losses as we witness the circle of life. The song from the Lion King stays in my thoughts:
From the day we arrive on the planet
And, blinking, step into the sun
There's more to see than can ever be seen
More to do than can ever be done
There's far too much to take in here
More to find than can ever be found
But the sun rolling high
Through the sapphire sky
Keeps great and small on the endless round
It's the Circle of Life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the Circle
The Circle of Life
Congratulations to Kate and Jimmy as they begin this new chapter in their lives with Macyn.
This is one of those moments that take our breath away!
